At Café Valenti, the new (though temporary!) centre of Commonwealth Park, media, sponsors and excited onlookers gathered for the launch of Floriade 2013.

With Virginia Haussegger once again assuming the role of MC, and a collection of brightly coloured side-show alley performers moving around outside the tent, this year’s theme of Beautiful Innovation was formally announced. Floriade will showcase the influence Canberra has had across the nation, with it’s national institutions, research centres and arts facilities providing a central focus for all Australians.

It has been a huge year for Matt. Having spent the first 4 months of the year holed up in a variety of apartments and studios in LA working on new material, Matt surprised fans in May by dropping into triple j to showcase the first track from his forthcoming debut album set for release early next year.

Visit Parliament House to see one of Australia’s best art collections. As a special celebration of the building’s 25th anniversary, 25 artworks by some of Australia’s most notable artists will be on display. Drawn from the Parliament House Art collection, the artworks tell a story of how Australian landscape and identity are intrinsically linked.
