Summer is coming, and as soon as the first blossoms appear on the stark branches of our city’s trees, thoughts turn to cider.

In the last few years, a veritable flood of ciders have hit the market with everyone from international companies to backyard brewers getting in on the action to develop their own interpretation of this refreshing drink.

Following on from the success of previous celebrations, Siren Bar is hosting ‘Ciderfest’ in conjunction with a collection of Australia’s favourite cider brewers and this year for a great charity, the Cancer Support Group.

Gig Review: Kingswood

Melbourne’s Kingswood are arguably Australia’s closest answer to America and Europe’s Rock music scene, and they decided to show Canberra what that means at ANU bar on Thursday night.

The Sinking Teeth started with an unexpectedly loud clash of drums that sounded like gunshots. With their screaming vocals and screeching guitars, they seemed an odd fit with Kingswood, but there were some nice harmonies that featured occasionally through tracks.
