Mimicking the hustle and bustle of the Melbourne Docklands, Canberra’s Kingston Foreshore is quickly becoming the local ‘place to be.’ With apartments currently under construction, and lots of new eateries opening up, our little foreshore will very soon be an even more bustling place of activity. Acting as a driving force behind the place is the ELEMENT building. Check out what this development has to offer now, and in the very near future…
It’s a bold move opening a burger place around the corner from Brodburger, a Canberra favourite, but Beef & Barley definitely gives Brod some competition. Rally your mates and head here for a guaranteed satisfying feed. There is also the option of pairing each burger with a particular craft beer, which elevates Beef & Barley from just your average burger joint to something a little more grown-up and special. The gorgeous view of the lake and the wonderful atmosphere inside the restaurant make Beef & Barley a must-try.
Our pick off the menu:
El Pedro
This is a beef burger with a twist. Including chorizo, goats cheese and a honey mayo – adding that extra zing to a beef burger classic.
7th & Bake Patisserie
7th & Bake is not your average patisserie. While it does have the traditional sweet treats and breads you would expect, it also serves burgers, fish, steak, and waffles – quite an array of goodies! To top off a delish experience, treat yourself to a Mars Bar Cheesecake, which is decadent and the perfect portion size.
Our pick off the menu:
Buckwheat Waffles
The ultimate indulgence is the Buckwheat Waffles from 7th & Bake Patisserie. The waffle base is topped with honey mascarpone, strawberry and vanilla compote and a white chocolate crumble. Yum!
Pizza Gusto, which has made a name for itself in Braddon, is now soon to open on the Kingston Foreshore. The venue offers all the classics but also serves pizzas including the Mare e Monte (bocconcini and prawns) and Patate (rosemary and potatoes) if you’re feeling a little more adventurous.
Our pick off the menu:
Patate
Simply amazing! This pizza is topped with few ingredients but is honestly to die for. The garlic oil base is topped with finely sliced potatoes, mozzarella, rosemary and sea salt.
It seems like Canberrans have the Swedes to thank for all our favourite things: H&M, ABBA, IKEA and now, ice-cream! Even though it only opened earlier this year, Mövenpick has already become a popular place for a cold treat. The huge array of flavours means that there is something for all tastes and ages. We’re sure that in summer time, Mövenpick will be the go-to for dessert, eaten while watching the sun go down over the water.
Our pick off the menu:
Classic Waffles
Try Mövenpick’s delectable freshly-baked hot waffles served with berries, two scoops of your favourite Mövenpick premium ice cream, drizzled with heavenly chocolate sauce and sprinkled with Swiss chocolate shavings – this is the perfect treat to beat the cold Canberra winter.
Another new-to-the-foreshore restaurant, the idea behind 7 by the Lake is to showcase dishes from seven regions of India, from Goa to Maharashtra. This means that there is a great variety of dishes to choose from. If you’re looking for a delicious, filling meal that is good value for money, 7 by the Lake definitely fits the bill.
Our pick off the menu:
Mutton Kolhapuri
Inspired by the Kolhapur region from Maharashtra, this is a special goat curry cooked in the traditional style. The dish is aromatic, but be warned because it packs a punch of spice!
Canberra’s favourite Chinese go-to is coming soon to the ELEMENT building! This flavoursome Bunda Street classic is making a new name for itself on the foreshore for you to try very soon. Whether it’s the favourite Shan Tung Chicken or the Sizzling Butterfly Prawns – all your Sammy’s favourites plus more will be there waiting for you.
Our pick off the menu:
Shan Tung Chicken
You can’t go past Sammy’s signature Shan Tung Chicken. The chicken is deep friend with cucumber, fresh chilli, garlic and peanuts, all combined with a lashing of Sammy’s secret sauce.
Continuing along the Chinese theme, Cinnabar is bringing a modern Chinese flair to ELEMENT. With picturesque dishes and surrounds, Cinnabar is a delight for the senses. With a number of affordable banquets, signature dishes and an ode to traditional flavours – this is a definite must-try!
Our pick off the menu:
Slow cooked duck with Chu Hou sauce
Mixing all your favourite winter warmers, enter Cinnabar’s Slow cooked duck with Chu Hu sauce. Slow cooked in a sauce of soy, garlic and ginger the duck simply melts in your mouth. The dish is finished with a fresh chilli and beer sauce to give this signature dish a kick on the way down.
Have you ever seen a chef twirl freshly made pasta inside a wheel of cheese in front of your eyes before it hits your plate? Well, this is all part of the service at Molto Italian. The venue is beautifully designed as part of the scene that surrounds it – serving up modern Italian and an extensive wine list to heighten the experience.
Our pick off the menu:
Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe
Served at the table in front of your eyes, this perfectly cooked hand-made pasta is gently folded through a giant pecorino wheel and doused with freshly cracked black pepper. The result is a deliciously cheesy and authentic dish that will leave you wanting more.
Meat & Wine Co.
The clock is counting down the minutes for Meat & Wine Co. to open mid-2016! With its authentic flare and a beautifully designed modern space by Otto Design Interiors, we can’t wait for the doors to open. The venue will bring world-class produce, products and an exclusive line of Monte Beef. The paddock-to-plate restaurant is sure to be the toast of the ELEMENT building!
Our pick off the menu:
Monte Grain Select
For your first time at Meat & Wine Co. you have to try a cut of steak off the Monte Grain Select menu. This premium line of beef is exclusive to the venue source from premium breeders. The cuts are grilled to your liking in its house-made basting and served with crunchy chips or the house salad.
